Lire un texte de Teresa María Díaz Nerio sur Gina Pane

Travesti de Sangre is a performance done in collaboration with Stefanie Seibold where we look at the use of the wound in Gina Pane’s (1939-1990) work, an Italian feminist performance artist living in Paris. Travesti de Sangre works as a choreography of wounds, examining the use of wounding in Gina Pane’s work and how it has being made into an spectacle, when the original intention was to wake-up what Pane called the ‘anaesthetized society’, her minimalistic, ritualistic and poetic ‘cuts’, made with a razor blade, where only a very small part of larger performance pieces which featured a lot of other very rich elements of her oeuvre. In the piece both Seibold and Diaz Nerio perform dressed in complete white attire typically used by Pane, symbolically cutting by gently drawing cuts on our skin, in a slow motion choreography of Pane’s wounds, mirroring each other.
