Graduated in art history from the University of Havana, Cuba.

Sara Hermann is specialist in visual arts at the Centro León of Santiago de los Caballeros in Dominican Republic. She is member of the AICA(International Association of Art Critics) and of the ICOM (International Council of Museums).

She was the director of the Museo de Arte Moderno of Santo Domingo between 2000 and 2004, although she was working there since 1992 as coordinator of international relations of the institution and manager for its publications. She was part of the curatorial teams for the Caribbean Biennials organized by the Museo de Arte Moderno of Santo Domingo since they started in 1992. Sara Hermann was also on the board of the curatorial team of the 1st Caribbean Triennial in 2010 at the Museo de Arte Moderno of Santo Domingo.

She was jury for a great number of national contests as the young art prizes, the contests of the Centro de Arte Eduardo León Jimenes, the prizes of theSalón Latinoamericano de Dibujo (drawing contests) or even the prizes of the Museo de Arte Contemporáneo of Puerto Rico.

Sara Hermann curated the following exhibitions :

Los Poderes at the Centro de la Imagen of Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic (2012) ; Particular Obsessions: Wifredo García at the Centro León de Santiago de los Caballeros, Dominican Republic (2009) ; Post Industrial Dust de Myritza Castillo at the Espacio de Influencia of Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic (2008) ; ¡Merengue! Visual Rhythms / Ritmos Visuales at El Museo del Barrio in New York, USA (2006-2007) and at the Centro León de Santiago de los Caballeros,Dominican Republic (2005) ; Herbarium: Caribbean contemporary drawing at the District & Co Gallery in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic (2007) ; Suite Quisqueya, New Dominican Painting at the District & Co Gallery in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic (2005) or Cuerpo del Delito at the Museo de Arte Moderno of Santo Domingo,Dominican Republic (2003).

She set up the public art project Project Arte Urbano Sarmiento en Dominican Republic in 2007.

Sara Hermann published her reviews and articles in magazines such as ArtNews, Longwood Arts Journal…
Lately, she contributed to the book Curating in the Caribbean, Green Box Editions (2012) under the direction of David A. Bailey, Alissandra Cummins, Axel Lapp and Allison Thompson.

She took part in several symposiums :
