Graduated in Dutch Language and Literature from the University of Amsterdam, The Netherlands (1971) and in Art History from the University of Amsterdam, The Netherlands (1988).

Rob Perrée is part of the editorial board of the Dutch magazine Kunstbeeld and of the PF Photo Magazine of Leeuwarden, The Netherlands.

He is specialized in  African, African American, American and Surinamese contemporary art, as well as in video-art.

He is an independent curator. For instance, he organized the Visitor exhibition at The Galerist in Istanbul, Turkey (2004, with Emre Baykal) or Postcards from Black America at the De Beyerd, Centre For Contemporary Art in Breda, The Netherlands (1998).

In 2012, he curated the MK Edition for the MK Award Foundation – three lavishly portfolios in limited edition containing prints by thirty renowned artists, presented to the art fair Art Rotterdam and KunstRAI Amsterdam art fair.

Rob Perrée wrote several articles published in Small Axe, Kunstbeeld or on his own website.

Here goes a selection on articles he wrote on Caribbean art : a review on the opening of the IBB – Insituto Buena Bista de Curaçao; an article on the future of Dutch Caribbean art ; or on the retrospective of Chris Ofili at the TATE (2010) ; two essays on Surinamese contemporary art on ocasion of the Wakaman Project (one in Small Axe, the other in Kunstbeeld, 2009) ; on the artworks of Surinamese George Struikelbok, or on Kurt Nahar & Remy Jungerman ; on the exhibition Paramaribo SPAN and its preparation or even on the correspondences between Black Surinamese artists and Black American artists…

He publishes reviews of Biennials (Dak’Art 2012, 11th Havana’s Biennail, 76th Whitney Biennial)…

He is the editor of Marcel Pinas. Artist, more than an artist, Jap Sam Books, Heijningen , 2011 and author of Cover to Cover : The Artist’s Book in Perspective, NAI Publishers, 2008, amongst others.
