Born  in Dominica,
Lives  and works between Wien, Austria and Dominica.

Holder of a MFA from the University for Applied Arts in Wien, Austria (2000).

Pauline Marcelle was recipient of the Kapsch Award, for innovation, twice (2003 & 2010) as well as the City of Vienna Award – by the Austrian Ministry of Culture.

She was artist in residence in 2010 at the Bag Factory in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Her last individual shows include : Bend Down Boutique, presented twice – at The Joburg Works, in South Africa (2010) and at the Habres & Partner gallery in Wien, Austria (2009) ; The Diaries at the Layr Wuestenhagen Contemporary  in Wien, Austria (2009) ; I would remember at the Gartenpalais’ space in Liechtenstein (2005) ; Double Six Maknite at the Museum of Applied Arts in Wien, Austria and What’s That Got to Do with me at the Layr Wuestenhagen Contemporary in Wien, Austria (2004) ; Black Lisa in the premices of the company McKinsey  in Wien, Austria (2003) and Thorns and Tulips – in the same premices – in 2000.

Regarding her participation to collective exhibitions, her work was showcased in : About Change in the HQ at the World Bank in Washington DC, USA (2011-2012) ; Wrestling with the image at the Art Museum of the Americas in Washington DC, USA (2011) ; Loosing Virginity at the Bag Factory in Johannesburg, South Africa and Changing Views at the Künstlerhaus  in Wien, Austria (2010) ; Floating Picnic at the Dumbo Art Centre of New York, USA (2008) ; Paradogs/Ken Eats/The Snake Steps at the MONA of Detroit, USA and Noir at the Gallery M : in New York, USA (2007) ; Visual Drugs at the Zeichengalerie Grenacher in Zurich, Switzerland (2006) ; Anes & Alissa Eating at the MONA in Detroit, USA (2005) and Pauline Marcelle & Erica Mapp at the Gallery M : in New York, USA (2004).

Pauline Marcelle showcased her pieces in the art fairs Art Basel (in 2007) and ArtBrussels (in 2006).

Pauline Marcelle’s artworks are contained in the collections of the following institutions :

World Bank in Washington, MONA – Museum of New Art of Detroit, Essi Collection of Contemporary Art of Wien ; as well as in several private Austrian collections such as the Sacher, McKinsey or Christian Fink.
