Paul Anthony Smith attended the New World School of the Arts in Miami (2006) and then completed a BFA from the Kansas City Art Institute, USA (2010).

He is recipient of the Arts KC Inspiration grant (Fund Art Omi International Residency) in 2013 ; the Copaken Scholarship from the Anderson Ranch Arts Center in Snowmass Village, USA in 2009 and of the Kenneth R. Ferguson Scholarship from Kansas City, USA in 2008.

Paul Anthony Smith is artist-in-residency at the Art Omi International Artists Residency in Ghent, USA (2013) ; the Anderson Ranch Arts Center in Snowmass Village, USA (2012) and at the Charlotte Street Foundation in Kansas City, USA for their Urban Culture Projects Studio Residency (2012).
