Graduated in art history from the University of Puerto Rico and in 19th and 20th century Art History, as well as in art criticism, from the Stony Brook’s State University of New York . She received the prize of ArtTable’s foundation for her “New Leadership in the Visual Arts”.

Marysol Nieves is vice-president of latinamerican art section in Christie’s in New York, USA, since September 2011.

Marysol Nieves was Senior curatoir at the Bronx Museum of the Arts of New York, USA (1995-2002) and director of the visual arts section for the Americas Society of New York, USA (2003-2004).

At the Bronx Museum of the Arts, she supervised the exhibitions of Liliana Porter (1992), Ernesto Pujol (1997), Juan Sánchez (1998), Rimer Cardillo (1998), Carlos Garaicoa (2000), María Elena González (2002), Judi Werthein (2002) or Valeska Soares (2003).

She then joined the Museo de Arte de Puerto Rico (MAPR) as a curator (2004-2006), where she had the opportunity to curate the following events : Dzine: Beautiful Otherness (2006) ; Works from The UBS Art Collection (2005). She reorganized the Sala de Proyectos (project room) dedicated to contemporary art in the MAPR.

Marysol Nieves was responsible for the selection of Puerto Rican artists for the biennial of El Museo del Barrio, The (S) Files of 2005.

She is assistant to the vice-president of the latinamerican department of Sothebys in New York, USA (2006-2009). She then joins Christie’s as advisor in curating and art (2009-2011).

Marysol Nieves is the author of several books such as, lately, Taking AIM ! The Business of Being an Artist Today, Fordham University Press, 2011.
