Marvin Bartley | Jamaica

Born in 1983 in Lionel Town, Clarendon, Jamaica,
Lives and works in Kingston, Jamaica

Graduated in painting from the Edna Manley College of the Visual & Performing Arts of Kingston, Jamaica (2007).

Marvin Bartley is a Fashion & Commercial photographer, but also intertwines a special approach in his practice that enables him to develop a number of series of photographies as visual art.

In 2012-2013, he is one of the artists selected to participate to the 6th National Biennial of Jamaica at the National Gallery of Jamaica. He had already taken part in the National Biennial of 2006 organized by the NGJ.


Marvin Bartley’s artworks and photographs were recently included in the book Pictures from Paradise – A Survey of Contemporary Caribbean Photography by Robert and Christopher Publishers, in april 2012 – a unique book featuring 18 Caribbean photographers.

His pictures were also published in magazines such as UCE Magazine, New York Times, SHE Caribbean Magazine, Jamaque, Iconography


In 2012, he receives the Public Vote Prize during the Super Plus Under 40 Competition.
