Graduated in teaching from the Instituto Superior Pedagógico Enrique José Varona and in history from the University of Havana, Cuba (1974). She is doctor in philosophical sciences, specialized in aesthetics, from the University of Kiev, Ukraine (1978).

María Magaly Espinosa Delgado is lecturer at the Instituto Superior de Arte of Havana, the ISA, and professor of aesthetics and art theory.

She is member of the UNEAC (Unión Nacional de Escritores e Artistas de Cuba / Cuban Writers & Artist National Union) and of the Cuban Asociación de Artistas Plásticos. She presides their sections on “Theory and Criticism”.

María Magaly Espinosa Delgado was a curator for some exhibitions, including, amongst others, at the international level :

Muestra de arte cubano at the Hamburg Art Fair (2001) and the travelling exhibition Andén16. Heterónimos. Los otros de uno mismo, in Madrid and Barcelona, Spain, and Quito, Ecuador (2005-2006).

María Magaly Espinosa Delgado has authored several books and articles, including Indagaciones. El Nuevo Arte Cubano y su estética, Editorial Cauce, Pinar del Río, Cuba (2003), a 70-pages book that is really crucial to understand the aesthetics of new Cuban art ;  or Estética y Arte. Variaciones del objeto crítico (1994).

She co-authored Antología de textos críticos: El nuevo arte cubano, with Kevin Power, Perceval Press, Santa Monica, USA(2006).
