Jorge Otero Escobar | Cuba

Born in 1982 in Havana, Cuba,
Lives and works in Havana, Cuba.

Graduated from the Academia de Bellas Artes San Alejandro (2001) and from the Instituto Superior de Arte (ISA) of Havana (2008).

Jorge Otero is professor at the ISDI, Instituto Superior de Diseño of Havana.

He receives the prize of photography during the 12th Festival Internacional de Documentales Santiago Álvarez in Memoriam in Santiago de Cuba, Cuba (2011) as well as the first prize for the national competition Temas y variaciones organized by the Alliance Française de Cuba (2009).

Jorge Otero participated in the following exhibitions : Colores del mundo at the South Border Gallery of Beirouth, Lebanon (2012) ; Si Cuba ! at the Ogden Museum of Southern Art in New Orleans, USA (2010) ; Estresisimo at the Galería Habana in Havana, Cuba (2010) ; Concierto Grabado at the Galería Villena of Havana, Cuba (2010) ; Musas del Lente at the Museo de Arte Colonial of Havana, Cuba (2010) ; a solo show at the Galerie Amahoro in Saint Martin, France (2009) ; 5×5 at the ISDI in Havana, Cuba (2009) ; Temas y variaciones at the Revista Revolución y Cultura in Havana, Cuba (2009) ; Simulacros at the Galería Villena in Havana, Cuba (2009) ; El cuerpo es cuerpos at the Galería Jesús Gallardo of León, Mexico (2008) ; Epidermis (solo) at the Fototeca de Cuba in Havana, Cuba (2008) ; La joven estampa at the Casa de Américas of Havana, Cuba (2007) and Fisiología del Anticuerpo (solo) at the Galería La Casona of Havana, Cuba (2002).

In 2012, he is one of the five Cuban artists invited to the festival of photography Phot’Aix in Aix-en-Provence, France.

In 2009, he participated in the 4th  national biennial of photography in Cuba.
