Haydee Venegas was professor of Art History at the Escuela de Artes Plásticas of Puerto Rico from 1994 to 2011. She was giving lessons on Contemporary Art, Puerto Rican Art, Caribbean Art and Latinamerican Art.

Before her death, she was the paymaster and vice-president of the Southern Caribbean section of the AICA (International Association of Art Critics), the AICA-SC.

She was director of the Art Division of the Ateneo Puertorriqueño.

Haydee Venegas was curator and was responsible for selecting Caribbean artists for the 4th Caribbean Biennial in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic (2001) ; for the Paiz Art Biennial in Guatemala (2002) ; for the 1st Singapour’s Biennial (2006), or for the First Art Biennial in Honduras (2006).

Between 1980 and 1987, she was assistant curator for the Museo de Arte de Ponce, Puerto Rico.

In 1988, she founded the Concultura association, a company of consultants for art collectors. Concultura had a large mission and organized exhibitions, as well as seminars or other events.

The articles of Haydee Venegas were published in the Puerto Rican newspapers El Nuevo Dia and Contemporanea.

In 2009, she took part to a symposium of the AICA with a lecture on Puerto Rican Art. Identity, Alterity And Travestism.

In 2011, she participated in the « Black Jacobins – Barbados/Martinique » symposium during the Black Diaspora Festival.
