Habdaphaï (Jean Crépin Alerte) | Martinique

Born in 1960 in Fort-de-France, Martinique,
Lives and works in Marin, Martinique.
Painting, sculpture, installation, video performance

He follows a training in graphic art at the Service d’Action Culturelle of Fort-de-France and in the Centre des Beaux arts municipal of Fort-de-France.
In 2011, he is artist in residence at the Maison d’Art Contemporain of Pérouges, France.

His last individual shows include : Regards Croisés at the Festival TOMA (Théâtres d’Outre-Mer en Avignon) in Avignon, France (2012) ; Promenades singulières at the Galerie André Arsenec of the CMAC in Martinique (2011) ; Identité achevée… Une histoire at the Galerie Odis7 in Marin, Martinique (2010) and two shows at the Alliance Française of Sainte Lucia (2009 and 2012).

Regarding his participation to collective exhibitions, his work was showcased in : Convergences Caraïbes at the Atrium of Fort-de-France, Martinique (2011 & 2012) ; Caribe Expandido at the Centre Culturel de Rencontre Fonds Saint-Jacques in Sainte Marie, Martinique (2011) ; A4 at La petite galerie in Paris, France (2011) ; Fusion at the Bibliothèque Schoelcher in Fort-de-France, Martinique (2011) ; Audace (2011) and Les Objets, Verticalité, Art Contemporain (2010) at the Galerie Odis7 in Marin, Martinique ; Fenêtre Sur at the Galerie Art Présent in Paris (2010) ; Les livres sculptures at the Atrium in Fort-de-France, Martinique (2010) and État des lieux : trois ans d’exposition at the Fondation Clément in Martinique (2008).

In 2008, Habdaphaï participates to the 5th forum transculturel d’art contemporain in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, with the Fondation AfricAméricA.

In 2008 and 2010 he is invited to the International Biennial of Frescos, Internos, in Cuba. In 2010, he participated in the 7th Biennial of Suba in Bogotá, Colombia.
