Christopher Cozier | Trinidad & Tobago

Graduated in fine arts from the Maryland Institute of Art of Baltimore and of the Mason Gross School of Art from the University of New Jersey (1988), both in the USA.

In addition to his activity as an artist, Christopher Cozier has always been a promoter of Caribbean contemporary art. He wrote a lot on his contemporary, be it in national or international publications. His articles, for instance, were published in magazines like Small Axe, A Caribbean Journal of Criticism or BOMB magazine 2003-2005 ; as well as in catalogues of exhibitions.

He was co-curator of significant exhibitions for Caribbean art : About Change, a project initiated by the World Bank, 2011-2012 ; Wrestling with the Image at the OAS in Washington D.C., USA, in 2011 ; Paramaribo Span in Suriname in 2010. In 2012, he is part of the jury for the Biennial Exhibition of Contemporary Bermuda Art organized by the BNG in St Georges, Bermuda.

Christopher Cozier is also one of the founders and co-directors of the cultural space of Alice Yard in Port of Spain, Trinidad & Tobago.

Christopher Cozier is recipient of a prize by the Pollock-Krasner Foundation (2004).
